Name that (really old-ish) book.?

My dad read this book to me when I was like seven, so about nine years ago, and I%26#039;m sure it%26#039;s much older. I want to know the title. Anyway:

-It was a compilation of stories.

-One was a story about the Huckabuck (or something similar) family. There was a lot of popcorn and something about a shoe buckle in it to. Maybe a squash... not sure.

-Another was a story of a kid who stayed a night in a karate place of some sort and there was some kind of fight between cats he drew and goblins.

Yes. I know, random, but I%26#039;m for sure it%26#039;s out there somewhere...

Name that (really old-ish) book.?
Its a collection of fairy stories from around the world. The temple on eis %26#039;asian%26#039; the huckabuck or whatever is from somewhere else. Look under fairy tales.
Reply:Hold, on I think I might have the book you%26#039;re talking about... give me a minute...

Someone beat me to it...
Reply:dictionary?
Reply:Sounds like you are talking abou The Huckabuck Family: and How They Raised Popcorn in Nebraska and Quit and Came Back and is a larger part of Carl Sandburg%26#039;s Rootabaga Stories

Buckling in the toe on freeds and blochs?

My first pair of shoes were capezio glisse%26#039;s with a medium shank but those were too soft for me. The next pointe shoe i wanted harder so i got blochs. I find it really hard to actually point my foot in them because they buckle at the toe. I noticed that freeds do the same. For my 3rd pair of pointe shoe i don%26#039;t wan%26#039;t a shoe that buckles at the toe or box but is also very hard in the shank. Any suggestions? i was thinking maybe grishko or chacotts. I know i don%26#039;t like blochs but the bloch axis also looks like it doesn%26#039;t buckle.

Buckling in the toe on freeds and blochs?
going to get pointe shoes professionally fitted at a dance store is your best bet but you have to tell them what you are feeling and ask for what you want, for example wider shoes, higher vamp... etc.

What should my conclusion be for my how-to speech?

Do you remember when you were in kindergarten and you first learned to tie your shoe? Many children get frustrated when they are trying to learn how to tie a shoe. The only solution is lots of practice and patience. Shoelaces can be tied in an almost infinite number of ways, the standard knot, the double knot, the two loop knot, the surgeon’s knot, the reef knot, the freedom knot, and many others. The standard knot is the quickest and easiest way to tie a shoe, and the double knot keeps the shoe tied throughout the day without coming undone. Shoelaces were not always what people used to fasten shoes. They also wore slip-on shoes, buckled shoes, and buttoned shoes to keep shoes secured.

Shoelaces were first invented in England in 1790. However, they did not become widely popular until the 20th century. Traditional shoelaces were made of cotton, leather, jute, and other materials. Modern shoelaces include various artificial fibers. Although modern shoelaces are more slippery

Need help from all of those Shoe-aholics/Shop-aholics out there?!?

The shoes might be Nine West.

They are peep toe, pumps, suede in the colors of red, black, gray, brown, and purple with a buckle over the toes.

They are so cute and I%26#039;m obsessed with them but I cannot find them ANYWHERE!

The design of them is called something like %26#039;freesha%26#039; or frija...not exact spelling but sounds the way that I spelled it.

Whoever finds them first will get 10 points and huge props! :)

Thanks for your help! :)

PS

I have previously looked on both sites and cannot find those specific ones.

If you can find those particular ones that would be awesome!

These have the same name.

They have a good selection of Nine West shoes. I didn%26#039;t see a style called %26quot;freesha%26quot; but I didn%26#039;t look that carefully. I%26#039;ve ordered from piperlime and their service is pretty good.

If it%26#039;s an older style you might be able to find them on Overstocks.com which also has a good selection of shoes.

Why do women's dress shoes buckle on the outside, and not on the inside of ankle?

I always thought it was mostly because when the buckle is decorative it%26#039;s so it%26#039;s easily visible.

Why do women%26#039;s dress shoes buckle on the outside, and not on the inside of ankle?
So you don%26#039;t rub your buckles together of you are standing up with your feet close, sitting with your feet together or while walking.
Reply:kuz they are easier to buckle that way

they show

and if ur feet are close to each other they dont hit each other...kuz that would be painful! =]
Reply:Because most of womens fashions come from upper class women long ago. At that time they had ladies who would dress them. That is why shirts button different and most dresses and bra work in back. If you would like me to come by and help you buckle your shoes gladly!
Reply:So you don%26#039;t get them mixed up. :)
Reply:so decorative purposes
Reply:so they wont rub on your feet when your walking.
Reply:it may also have something to do with who actually buckled them. Women%26#039;s shirts button on the opposite side from men%26#039;s, because for a while, upper class women had attendants to help them with dressing. It%26#039;s easier for someone else to work on the outside of your foot than for yourself, but if you were lacing or buckling your own, you%26#039;d want it closer to the inside or on top.
